SUTTER NORTH STAFF RECEIVE HIGHEST IMAGING CREDENTIAL

|

Sutter North Medical Foundation Echo Technologist, Kitty O’Neal, and Vascular Ultrasound Technologist, Rebecca Pryde, met the rigorous qualifications for certification by the premier credentialing organization for ultrasound professionals, the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). ARDMS credentials represent the highest level of competence in the medical-imaging modality of sonography (ultrasound) testing. Achievement of this certification acknowledges Kitty O’Neal and Rebecca Pryde’s personal achievement of a highly recognized professional standard of excellence.
To achieve the ARDMS credential, O’Neal and Pryde met the association’s strict prerequisites, including education and career-experience requirements. Both also passed two comprehensive examinations: one on the physical principles underlying ultrasound diagnosis and the high-tech instruments used in ultrasound exams, and the other in Vascular Specialty. Both technologists serve patients in Sutter North’s Cardiology Department at 440 Plumas Blvd. in Yuba City. O’Neal and Pryde have been awarded a credential of Registered Vascular Technologist. O’Neal is also registered in Adult Echocardiography with the ARDMS. Sutter North’s newest technology allows the technologists to detect congenital defects and pinpoint abnormalities in the left ventricle and heart valves by viewing the heart in 3-D. The 3-D ECHO technology is the only one of its kind in the Yuba-Sutter region.
The examinations administered by ARDMS measure the attainment of the knowledge and experience required of those who serve the public’s health by practicing diagnostic vascular imaging. ARDMS is an independent, non-profit organization that develops and administers examinations in diagnostic sonography. Since its inception in 1975, ARDMS has certified more than 45,000 sonographers and vascular technologists worldwide. ARDMS credentials are widely accepted in the medical community by such respected organizations as the American College of Radiology, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound. ARDMS, in turn has been accredited by the National Organization for Competency Assurance, an accreditation group for certifying organizations.
