Fast Trac Survey Proves Program's Success

December 2004

Sutter North Medical Foundation recently completed a study to determine the effectiveness of patient care at their urgent care clinic. The results showed Sutter North’s Urgent Care was able to examine patients whom have Fast Trac ailments within 20 minutes, at a 99.6 percent success rate.

(The survey tracked 281 patients with routine medical problems through each phase of urgent care; from registration, followed by nursing evaluation, and then being seen by a medical provider, over a six week time peroid.)

Fast Trac, a new program at Sutter North Urgent Care, is rapid, quality care for common ailments requiring specific routine treatments. The Fast Trac ailments include: strep throat, ear infection, ear ache, sinus infection, pink eye/styes, sore throat, impetigo, ring worm, TB testing, cold sores, flu treatments, pregnancy testing, seasonal allergies and female bladder infections.

“We really believe that if a patient has a routine ailment, we should get them on road to recovery within 20 minutes, and our study proves Sutter North Medical Foundation is doing just that,” said Steven Patwell, M.D., Medical Director of Sutter North Urgent Care.

Urgent care, treatment for non-life threatening medical problems, offers an alternative to often crowed hospital emergency rooms. As part of Sutter North’s continued efforts to improve patient care, Sutter North Urgent Care has decreased their patient’s wait time by increasing their hours, hiring more staff and purchasing new technology.

“Our survey results are a reflection of the value we put on our patient’s time; our priority is to get them better, faster,” said Dr. Patwell.

Sutter North Urgent Care, located in Yuba City’s Town Center, is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the year. The Urgent Care Department has seven full time medical providers that cover the department for the 15 hours the clinic is open every day.
Sutter North’s Urgent Care treats non-life threatening medical problems that require prompt medical attention. For more information about Sutter North’s Urgent Care, or their Fast Trac program, call 530-749-3420.
