Sutter North Medical Foundation has been chosen as a beta test site for new medical transcription software. The software enables medical providers to dictate, review, edit and e-sign their transcribed reports electronically; making transcription easier on doctors and bringing results to patients faster.
Currently, when patients see their physician for an office visit there is a four to five stage process to have the notes transcribed, and to make the results available in patient’s charts. Sutter North was chosen to test the new eChart Dictation and Transcription software that will allow them to streamline all the changes and approvals online through secure internet access, 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week. The eChart developer, Spheris Inc., tailored the software to simplify the transcription and document creation process without disrupting the work habits of our medical staff.
“The eChart is very user friendly and efficient,” said Jason Boynton, DPM, Podiatrist at Sutter North and physician champion for the new software. “Through the beta test site we are able to help work out some minor bugs in the process, and soon the software will be fully functional. It is an honor for our organization to be selected to use the eChart and given the opportunity to influence any changes or upgrades before it is put on the market.”
“We were chosen as a test-site facility because of our familiarity with medical transcription and our advanced IT Department,” said Tom Walther, COO of Sutter North. “This is just another example of how we strive to provide our physicians and patients with modern technology that sets the standard for patient care.”
Sutter North Medical Foundation has a history in introducing technologies and services to the Yuba-Sutter area that have provided patients with a higher quality and more efficient patient care, including Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS), filmless x-rays, and Computer-Aided Mammography Detection (CAD).
