Many women think heart disease primarily affects men – that is not true. In fact, more women die of heart disease than men and it is the No. 1 killer of women. Heart disease also strikes at younger ages than most people think, and the risk rises in middle ages.

The staggering statistics of how heart disease affects women has encouraged Sutter North Medical Foundation to increase outreach and education to women – by bringing this disease to the top of their mind and to the middle of their heart.

Sutter North Medical Foundation sponsors a number of events to increase awareness of heart disease to women; with many events throughout February, heart awareness month.
